How is the career in retail sales in the context of Bangladesh?

Retail sales operation is a department through which a company can analyze its daily ROI and forecast to bring out the growth of the business in a strategic way.

Retail operations are needed not only to bring in daily sales but also to increase the visibility of your product and brand in the market through retail showrooms which in turn leads to growth in the corporate department of the company. The main reason for this is that people buy those products which have brand value and brand visibility which is created by the retail showrooms through its daily sales and proper trade marketing.

So those who are the heads of these departments or those who are the managers of these brandshop operations or a retail manager with all retails nationally should have a very bright career, right?
The unfortunate thing is that even after working with the most pressure in this department, the career opportunities of the territory officers, area managers and operations managers of this department are comparatively less in the context of Bangladesh and at the same time the job environment in this department is not proper healthy. There is constant pressure and relative job security in this department is very less than other departments so many people want to leave the sales profession.

The main reason for this is that since there is a daily volume in the retail operation, higher management wants to grow it quickly. As a result, this department is under a lot of pressure from the showroom sales man to the National Sales Manager. And due to more pressure, more meetings, employee is not fit mentally as well as physically. And on the other hand, even though this department is the revenue generator department of a company, so that company has to spend a lot of amount on the showroom rent with the infrastructure. As a result, the fixed cost of the company is high as well as the financial calculation of the fixed cost hit in the ROI of every month and so that the break even point become high. And for all these things, even the hardest working employees in this department get relatively low salaries.

So if someone wants to come in sales career, think about the above things first. Because whenever you come to a good position in sales, everyone’s expectations from you will increase every day, but at the end of the day most of the companies in Bangladesh do not look for the level of employee depression. This is exactly why the retail chain of all companies in Bangladesh is deteriorating day by day for the last few years. And the employees here are constantly disappointed which affects their personal life because after so much stress, work life and personal life cannot be balanced. If this continues, talented employees will leave that profession and the once major revenue generating department of companies will suffer from a talent vacuum.
